Testimonio is a visual and poetic exploration of the lives of women in Mexico-women whose strength, traditions, work, and quiet resilience are woven into the fabric of everyday life.
Through intimate black-and-white photographs, personal observations, and poetry by Oaxacan poet Paloma Lounice, photographer Deborah Cole invites us to look beyond stereotypes and see women as they are: complex, capable, vulnerable, joyful, determined, and deeply individual.
Created over years of photographing and listening, Testimonio is not an attempt to speak for these women. It is an act of witnessing-an invitation to slow down, pay attention, and recognize the humanity we share.
A book about women. A book about Mexico. And, ultimately, a book about seeing one another.
